1878 – “El Ferrocarril” was born, the first newspaper of the Suroccidente Colombiano founded in Cali by Eustaquio Palacios. Circulated until 1898.
1887 – The Medicine Society of the Cauca, founded in Cali by the physician and prominent scientist Evaristo García, is created.
1913 – Arrive in Cali the first automobile, brand Reo, brought from Barranquilla by Jorge Zawadsky.
1914 – Cali met the first telephone plant for 500 subscribers. It was installed by Emmanuel Pinedo and operated with a crank. The automatic plant was only known until 1940.
1919 – The Hipotecario del Pacifico Bank was founded and the sugarcane plantation was industrialized. The sugar industry was beginning to grow.
1957 – The first television images were seen by the Caleños. By this time the world reality was already known through radio transmissions.
