Museo Arqueológico La Merced
The Archaeological Museum La Merced is perhaps one of the most beloved architectural gems of the city. From the beginnings of the Foundation of the capital of Vallecaucan, it becomes very important, since it was there that on 25 July 1536 the first mass of thanksgiving was officiated.
The Museum preserves in its walls the testimony of the development of remembered pre-Hispanic cultures. It is located in Carrera 4 # 6 – 59 and offers its services to the public from Tuesday to Saturday in the hours of 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 m. And 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Museo de Ciencias Naturales `Federico Carlos Lehmann Valencia´
One of the most complete museums, not only for its taxonomic collection but also for its variety of archaeological, ethnographic and paleontological pieces, among others, is the Museum of Natural Sciences `Federico Carlos Lehmann Valencia ‘.
It was inaugurated on December 16, 1963, at the initiative of the then Secretary of Departmental Education, Maritza Uribe de Urdinola. It has zoology, mineralogy, mastozoology and ornithology, among others. They can be seen on Roosevelt Avenue # 24-80, in the Departmental Library.
Museo del Oro Calima
On May 9, 1991, the Calima Gold Museum was inaugurated in Cali, thanks to the cultural decentralization of the Gold Museum of Santa Fe de Bogotá, which began in 1980.
It has precious pieces of gold, pottery, shells and ethnographic material as a sample of the history of indigenous cultures that inhabited the Calima River and the northeast of the valley capital. In addition, it has a listening room for classical music, projection and video and ethnic and folkloric, as well as library, permanent showroom and library.
It is located in the Bank of the Republic, Calle 7 No. 4-69.
Museo de Arte Colonial y Religioso
This scenario is considered the most beautiful museum of colonial and religious art in the country.
